Three Superb Matches, Two Charities, One Big Occasion

Charity partners announced for the upcoming Inter Service Matches

Two charities, the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity (RNRMC) and Royal Air Force
Benevolent Fund (RAFBF) have been confirmed as official partners for the first round of
Inter Service rugby matches which get underway in Plymouth later this month.

Featuring the Royal Navy (RN) and Royal Air Force (RAF) this superb sporting occasion
begins with the Masters level on the evening of Friday 24 March at 1900 hours when the
Mariners take on RAF Masters at Devonport Services RFC.

On Saturday 25 March it is over to Plymouth Albion RFC where the women kick off first at
1200 hours followed by the men at 1515 hours. Tickets cost £10 and are available from the
Plymouth Albion website. Under 16s go free.

Inter Service rugby games provide a great opportunity for local rugby enthusiasts to get
behind their team and see two huge local matches featuring potential sporting stars of the
future from both men’s and women’s rugby. It’s also an opportunity to find out a bit more
about the superb work undertaken by two charities that provide invaluable support to
service personnel and their families.

Dawn Ingram, Director of Fundraising, for RNRMC said: "We're really grateful to be chosen
as one of the charity recipients of the upcoming Inter Service Rugby Match. It is a fantastic
opportunity for all those involved to learn more about the work we do for our Naval
community. The money raised will go towards supporting our Royal Navy, Royal Marines
and Royal Fleet Auxiliary personnel and their families, past, present and future."

Controller, Chris Elliot of the RAFBC said: “The Fund are honoured to be a part of this year’s
Inter Service Rugby Matches. Supporting beneficiaries is the heart of what we do and
nothing is more fun than rallying up good spirits in the name of sport. Wishing all the teams
the best for the opening weekend games at Plymouth.”

The first fixture of 2023’s Inter Service Rugby takes place at Plymouth. It is one of three
individual and very special occasions built on tradition but embracing changing expectations
of spectators such as the growing success of the women’s games. Spectators can share in
the excitement as men and women from the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force pit their
strength and skill against each other to provide a superb, competitive and exciting day out for all the family.

Supporters and rugby enthusiasts have a rare opportunity to see potential stars of the future right on their doorstep.

Next up will be the Army vs RAF at Kingsholm, Gloucester, on 15 April, followed by the RN vs
Army on 13 May at Twickenham. Tickets for all three events are on sale now.
