A total of £10,000 has been allocated to the following initiatives:
Intergenerational Music Making, St Mary’s School Library, Whitton Business Association, Powerjam, Queensbridge Park Gardens, Twickenham Sea Cadets, Twickenham Army Cadets and the Twickenham MPS Police Cadets.
Anna Texier, Founder of Powerjam said: "Thanks to the Army Navy Match grant awarded to Powerjam, a not-for-profit band project & charity, local talented teen bands have begun releasing 15 quality rock and pop songs-one per week- including original songs, on major streaming platforms, such as Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, and Soundcloud!
With 12 of their festival gigs being cancelled due to Covid-19, these weekly song releases have been a great source of excitement and pride for these young people, many of whom have been gigging publicly in the community for 5 years, starting as early as 9 years old! It's keeping them involved and helping them to cope with social distancing.“
