Navy / RAF / Inter-Services ChampionshipInter Services 2019 Opener- Navy too Hot to Handle
A Royal Navy side showing six changes from last season’s team laid down a bright marker about their Inter Service intentions in the opening game of the 2019 Championship. They played the game at pace and with width, a style which found favour with the supporters, including some Quins fans who had chosen to visit the Twickenham Stoop rather than travel to watch Harlequins in Manchester. Long before the end the Royal Air Force Senior Men knew they had been well beaten. Their hopes for a third successive win in this fixture dashed and also their chances of retaining their Inter Service crown severely dented even if not fully lost.

Navy / RAF / Inter-Services ChampionshipInter Services 2019 - RAF Senior Women Gear Up For Army Showdown
In the first round of the 2019 Inter Services Championship, without fully hitting the high notes that they are capable of the RAF Senior Women showed enough glimpses of the talent they possess to remind everyone that they will pose a serious challenge to the Army Women’s unbroken winning run in the Women’s Inter Services.
They had killed the game as a contest within the first fifteen minutes with four well taken tries. They will be annoyed with themselves that they allowed the Royal Navy so much possession in the last fifteen minutes of the half but will be pleased with the accuracy of their counter attack in the final quarter when they again had the scoreboard ticking over quickly. A 67 – 3 final score tells its own story. Though the Navy never stopped competing they did not have the armoury to trouble the Air Forces’ goal line nor the ability to stem the tide of Light Blue attacks.

Navy / RAF / Inter-Services ChampionshipInter Services 2019 - RAF Vultures Swoop to Conquer
In this seasons opening game of the Inter Services Championship the Royal Air Force Vultures proved to be too quick in thought and deed for a Mariners side that never managed to impose themselves.

In Matt Clarke, their outside centre the Air Force have found a potent weapon and his two tries were just reward for his industry and broken field running. For the Mariners it was an overall sorry opening match and they will need to look closely at their options before they face the Army Masters in the final game in the Championship. The Vultures will travel to Gloucester full of confidence and will hope the final round may be a dead rubber as they seek a second win to seal the championship.5th April 2019

Army / Navy / Inter-Services ChampionshipMasters Retain Trophy With Flowing Rugby
The template for the Army Masters convincing 59-5 victory over the Navy Mariners was set in the first ten minutes. In those early exchanges the pre match predictions of a classic and close encounter had been dashed on the rocks as the Mariners Inter Service title chances receded faster than an ebbing tide.

Within the first five minutes the Masters took the lead with a well worked try based on quick ball to the backs. From the restart the Mariners looked to hit straight back. They pummelled the Masters' line putting the Army side under huge pressure with their rolling maul. But the ball was spilled, Masters' scrumhalf Gareth Slade-Jones sniffed half an opening deep in his own 22m area and with Karneli Kim-Vuadreu, Ratu Naivalu, Vasa Bai and Unaia Balekinasiga all combining, the ball swept 70m down field for a second Army try and 14-0 lead.9th May 2018

Army Retain The Babcock Trophy To Send Sanger Off in Style
Neither team had fully played an eighty minutes to their potential throughout the build up and both Head Coaches were pleased with their preparations.
The Babcock Trophy remained in Army hands as they equalled their longest unbeaten run of 8 years and recorded their 62nd victory in the 101 match series. They also ensured that head coach Andy Sanger had the perfect send off as he swaps Army rugby for Premiership rugby with Harlequins.

Army / Navy / Inter-Services ChampionshipArmy Women Maintain Unbeaten Record
Army cheers from the neighbouring pitch spurred the Army Women on, with Army fullback Fionidi Parker scoring the opening try. It was quickly followed by a second, this time from prop Becky Wilson which Lou Dodd converted to extend the Army lead to 12-0.
Four further tries before half time finished the game as a contest. Both centres, Lou Dodd and Jade Mullen, crossed for tries followed by a try for scrumhalf Nancy Kuva and the final try before the break from flanker Heidi Silcox. With Lou Dodd adding 3 more conversions the Army reached the half time break leading 38-0. The Navy had battled but as soon as they were unable to pressure the Army and force them back inside, the pace out wide of the Army backs was proving decisive.

Army / Navy / RAF / Inter-Services ChampionshipRoyal Air Force Seek Treble Celebration
When Royal Air Force captain, Stu Philpott, was driven over for the winning score against the Army he knew that the job was only half done. A one point winning score over the Army was no different than the situation they were in two years ago.
Then they travelled to Portsmouth in anticipation of retaining their Inter Service title only to win the battle but lose the war as three Jon Humphrey penalties dashed their hopes and the Navy claimed a one point win of their own before drawing with the Army to win their first IS title since 2010. Philpott will be determined not to repeat the mistake and knows that a RAF victory at the Stoop on Friday, will secure the Inter Service title and bring a third RAF celebration during the month of April.

Army Too Strong for Valiant Navy in 100th Army Navy Match
A sold out Twickenham enjoyed a pulsating historic Army Navy Match. Though the Army were always in control they were never totally secure but held on for a deserved 29-20 victory.
As so often is the case, the opening skirmishes were full on with no quarter given. However it was the Army who were controlling possession and also territory and when the Navy transgressed at the ruck a James Dixon penalty opened the scoring. From the restart the Army then rocked the Navy further when they set Junior Bulumakau free for a try in the right hand corner with Matt Bowden unable to force him in to touch. -
