team, littered with International and Premiership players,
looking to be crowned Inter Services Champions for the 9th

would see the Royal Navy aiming to change the Army motto ‘Reds
on the March'. Indeed, the swathes of red shirts in the crowd
were to be disappointed as the Royal Navy overcame a 15 -3
half time deficit to beat the Army in the final minutes of
an enthralling match, by 24 points to 22... Read more of the

Army Women still rule the waves
Army Women beat Navy Women (25-11)
Kneller Hall, Twickenham, 1 May 210 |
|
Royal Navy Women's version - From the
kick off, the Army manage to gather the ball and run towards
the Navy's quick defence, but a solo runner is soon stopped
in her tracks, and the RN are awarded a penalty as the Army
hold onto the ball following the tackle. AB Sam Alderson kicks
the ball back into the Army's half for the RN's first lineout
of the match. The first ten minutes are evenly matched, although
the RN is definitely the dominant side in the scrum, an advantage
which is retained throughout the match, much to the Army's
annoyance... Read the rest of the RN

Army
Veterans keep Mariners at bay
Army Masters beat Ancient Mariners
(28-19)
Kneller Hall, Twickenham, 1 May 2010 |
|
| Ancient Mariner's version
- In the shadows of the hallowed Twickenham turf and a under
bright blue sky, the Royal Navy Veterans prepared to do battle
with the current Rugby Veterans World Champions - the Army
Masters - on a glorious pitch in the grounds of the Royal
Military School of Music at Kneller Hall. Buoyed by the fact
that the Army had been beaten the week before by the RAF Veterans,
the Navy set about the game keen to end 4 years of defeats
at the hands of the old enemy. Rampant from the off, the RN
made significant inroads into the Army side, driven on by
direction from Head Coach Lt Mick Connolly. An early break
nearly led to WO Bob Toomey (Headley Court) finishing a dynamic
move from inside the RN 22, only a tap tackle 10 yards out
preventing the score... Read the rest of the Ancient
Mariners report
Army Masters' version - An overcast morning
in the shadow of Twickenham and the Navy kick off; an early
blood injury sees Marc Wilding come off for Jamie McMeechan.
A mistake at the back of a scrum and the Navy number 9 chips
into the corner for a race, which the Navy winger wins, 9
minutes played, 0-5. Mike Nawaqaliva is replaced by Nabs Nabakeke.
Lovely hands by the Army and Alfred Vakacoko-Vanua is going
over in the corner, however a high tackle halts the play and
a yellow card is given to the Navy cover. Struggling to hold
the Masters, the Navy are kicking everything but as they kick
the ball away the Army take it back. After 25 minutes a penalty
by Mark Reed takes the score to 3-5; Nabs Nabakeke is replaced
by Alex Biggs... Read the rest of the Army
